Things like average everyday people being able to headshot an enemy from 20 meters away just by crouching and standing still for a few seconds, or the same average everyday person having the ability to properly wield weapons like the SPAS-12 shotgun without breaking his or her ribs ruins any potential chance for realism the game could have had. Left 4 Dead threw any hopes of Realism out the window when it started dropping piles of infinite ammunition around street corners (including fully loaded weapons. When I saw 'Realism Mode' I knew that it was just going to be a rehash of the same old thing, albeit a bit more difficult. But here's the thing, I never played it for the realism. Left 4 Dead 2 is a fantastic game, I've played and finished the entire campaign, and loved every part of it. I mean why not make it REAL REAL and leave the suspension of disbelief to campaign/verus mode?Īgain i only have like 1.5 hrs played on 400 ping servers so fill me in if i've missed something or weigh in if you agree. It feels more like campaign with a few changes that i really didn't notice. Instead it seems they just took a few things out like infected/survivor outlines, increased friendly fire damage a bit, added instant witch kills, kept kits. I feel these changes would make it feel 'extremely' real and the objective wouldnt be to 'finish' exactly but to see how we'd react in a REAL situation and if you finish, then you're most likely to survive a real infestation.

No kits, just pills (Health kits aren't real :P) One shot of friendly fire would kill or severely injure When you die, you die, maybe a defib would work, but you get the idea

The way i anticipated it was this A Real zombie infestation scenario where you only get one chance. However, I tried 'realism' mode and i found it to be, not exactly what i'd imagined. I fought through it though and had a lot of fun. I tried a few modes but it seems the lack of dedicated servers made it so i only joined 'local games' where i pinged 400 consistently :P. Like most i stayed up until release and a couple hours after only to have to show up for work in the morning. I have absoluetely have zero qualms with the game.
